My Comments On Tse Teng's Post
I agree with Tse Teng that CCTVs are an effective deterrent of crime and that some people use dummy CCTVs as an alternative way. Although it may be called a "dummy", it is not as expensive as the real CCTVs and could be more affordable to people. As it has a splitting image of the real CCTV, criminals might think that it is real and think twice. However, i do not agree that installing CCTVs at illegal gambling dens is an advantage as it helps the illegal gamblers get away with their misdeeds. Furthermore, I do not think that a gambling den would have enough money to buy a real CCTV.

I agree completely that CCT surveillance is a good way to solve crimes that take place. It also serves as a form of deterrence for people who may want to commit crimes. Take this example, if one was to see a CCTV and a guard standing at a bank would he still be as confident to rob it? Having such security serves as a form of prevention for crimes. However, sometimes, when a person has no other choice but to rob or steal, such measures would be of no use to deter him from the crime. Definitely the number of advantages a CCT has outweighs the number of disadvantages a CCT has.
